Our AML and Verification Rules
Our AML Policy Commitment
Emu Casino operates under licence MGA/B2C/394/2017 issued by the Malta Gaming Authority, and we treat the anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing obligations attached to that licence as binding on every part of our platform. Our compliance team, led by our Money Laundering Reporting Officer, applies the MGA's Anti-Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations to all accounts, whatever their size or country of residence.
We do not accept deposits or wagers that we cannot reasonably connect to a legitimate source. That means every player account is screened against sanctions lists and politically-exposed-person databases at registration and re-screened when relevant lists are updated. If an account raises a concern we cannot resolve, we are required to suspend it and report the matter to the relevant authority rather than notify the account holder first.
When We Verify Your Account
We verify every player before the first withdrawal, and we may verify earlier where risk indicators appear. Verification is not optional for us; our licence makes it a condition of holding your account. Here is exactly what we ask for and when.
- Registration: name, date of birth, residential address and contact details. Your account is opened on this basis.
- First withdrawal or a balance threshold: government-issued photo ID (passport, driver licence or national ID card) plus proof of address dated within the last 3 months (utility bill, bank statement or official government correspondence).
- Payment method ownership: a photo of the bank card (middle digits masked) or a screenshot of your e-wallet or crypto wallet showing your name, so we can confirm the payment method belongs to you.
- Large or unusual transactions: we may re-verify at any point if deposits, withdrawals or betting patterns warrant it.
How Verification Works
Your documents are transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on access-controlled servers. Only authorised compliance staff can view them, and we never share verification data with third parties except where our licence or applicable law requires it.
- 1. Log in and open the Verification tab in your account profile.
- 2. Upload a clear, uncropped photo or scan of your ID document; all four corners must be visible.
- 3. Upload your proof of address, showing your full name, address and issue date.
- 4. Upload payment method evidence if you are withdrawing to a card, e-wallet or crypto address.
- 5. Our compliance team reviews the files and emails you the outcome, usually within 24 hours and always within 3 business days.
Source of Funds Requests
For most players, ID and proof of address are enough. Where your deposits exceed levels we consider consistent with ordinary recreational play, or where your pattern of deposits looks structured to avoid thresholds, we will ask for evidence of where the money comes from.
Acceptable evidence includes recent payslips, tax returns, bank statements showing regular income, sale contracts or dividend statements. We ask because our regulator obliges us to confirm that funds wagered on our platform derive from lawful activity, not to pry into your finances. A source of funds request is a standard control, and cooperating with one is the fastest way to keep your withdrawals moving.
How We Monitor Transactions
Every deposit and withdrawal is checked against your verified profile, your gameplay history and our risk rules. Withdrawals must return to the same method you used to deposit wherever that method supports withdrawals; where it does not, we pay to a verified alternative in your name.
Our limits are stated up front: minimum deposit and minimum withdrawal are both 30 AUD, and the maximum withdrawal is 8,000 AUD per day. Withdrawals are processed within 0 to 1 hours once verification is complete. We charge no fees on deposits or withdrawals.
Monitoring also covers how funds move. Rapid deposits followed by minimal play and an immediate withdrawal request, deposits from third-party accounts, or attempts to move funds between players are all treated as red flags that trigger review and, where necessary, a report to our regulator.
If Verification Fails
If your documents do not arrive within 14 days of our request, we suspend withdrawals on the account. Play may continue, but nothing leaves your balance until verification is complete.
If documents are rejected, we tell you which ones and why, and you can re-upload corrected copies. Name mismatches, expired ID and addresses that do not match your registered details are the most common reasons for rejection. If we cannot verify you after reasonable attempts, or if documents appear falsified, we close the account, refund any verified balance to a payment method in your own name, and record the outcome as our licence requires. Accounts closed for verification failure may not be re-registered.
How Long We Keep Records
We retain verification documents and transaction records for five years after your account closes, or five years from the last transaction, whichever is later. This retention period is set by MGA anti-money-laundering rules and cannot be shortened at a player's request. After the retention period expires, documents are securely destroyed.
You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you at any time by emailing [email protected], and our support team is available 24/7 if you have questions about a verification request on your account.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to verify my account before I can deposit?
No. You can register and deposit without verification, but we verify every player before the first withdrawal, so uploading your documents early avoids delays.
How long does verification take?
Most reviews are completed within 24 hours, and all are finished within 3 business days of receiving clear documents.
Why was my proof of address rejected?
Usually because it is older than 3 months, the name or address does not match your account details, or the document type is not accepted. We email you the specific reason so you can re-upload a valid one.
Can someone else verify on my behalf?
No. Payment methods and accounts must be in your own name, and third-party deposits or withdrawals are not permitted under our licence.
